IPLP Program empowering young Iraqi leaders

The Iraqi Public Leadership and Policy program hosted successful sessions in partnership with the American University of Sharjah at The Station المحطة in Baghdad.

Our Partner Dr Yass Alkafaji, DBA, CPA, IPLP Academic Director led a session on Iraq’s Public Finance and Budgeting. The program brought together individuals from diverse and multi-disciplinary sectors,  connected by a shared passion for learning more about the country and rebuilding.

Since its inception, the IPLP has positively impacted the lives of hundreds of young Iraqi leaders. It has empowered them to be successful social entrepreneurs & leaders, giving them renewed hope and inspiring them to rebuild their country.

More than 300 leaders have graduated from the program, including ministers in the central government, numerous physicians, lawyers, entrepreneurs, diplomats, and many other professionals based internationally.

Dr Yass, IPLP Academic Director, mentioned that “IPLP has led me to change my academic research agenda, so it aligns with Iraq’s challenges, examining the role of public money and finance in empowering young people to be successful social entrepreneurs. I am deeply grateful to everyone who made this unique experiment a success, including our sponsor – Crescent Petroleum, the American University of Sharjah, the participants, the faculty and the many discussion leaders.”
